S&A Cherokee Names Croft and Uhland as Co-Editors of Cary Magazine

Cary, N.C. (April 28, 2011) — S&A Cherokee, publisher of Cary Magazine, is pleased to announce that Tara Croft and Emily Uhland have been named co-editors of the bimonthly publication. Uhland was named the magazine’s lead graphic designer in 2007, and Croft has been Cary Magazine’s copy editor since 2008.

Since 2003, Cary Magazine has highlighted the people, places and lifestyle of Western Wake County under original editor Danielle Stanfield, who helped establish the magazine’s identity and grew readership to more than 25,000. With Stanfield’s relocation to another part of the country, S&A Cherokee owners/principals Ron Smith and Bill Zadeits decided to seek new leadership from within the organization.

“Both Tara and Emily have contributed greatly to Cary Magazine’s growth and evolution,” said Zadeits. “We will definitely miss Danielle but I’m confident they will do an excellent job in carrying on the fine work she began.”

Croft joined S&A Cherokee as a part-time editorial intern in 2007 while completing her education. In addition to editing copy, she has written numerous articles and has contributed at all levels of the editorial process of Cary Magazine. She has also copy edited other S&A Cherokee media properties including Auto Remarketing, SubPrime Auto Finance News and Triangle East. Croft serves on the Town of Cary’s Festivals Committee that plans the Lazy Daze and Spring Daze arts and crafts festivals. She graduated cum laude from N.C. State University with a bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in technical and scientific communication.

In addition to designing Cary Magazine, Uhland has applied her design skills to other publications such as Triangle East, Heart to Heart, North Carolina Farm Bureau Magazine and NC Magazine. She has also designed collateral for various events including Cary Magazine’s Elegant Weddings Gala (for which she won a Triangle NACE Award), the Women of Western Wake Luncheon and Triangle East magazine’s Home and Garden Show. Uhland earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism, with a concentration in graphic design, from UNC Chapel Hill and joined S&A Cherokee in 2005
